National Cheeseburger Day, Wisconsin is home to the healthiest burger
Wisconsin takes the lead in healthy eating by crafting the perfect balance of flavor and nutrition in their burgers for National Cheeseburger Day.
In honor of National Cheeseburger Day, here are the least healthy and healthiest burgers to indulge in to celebrate. A new study reveals that Wisconsin-based Culver's offers the healthiest option among major fast-food chains, challenging perceptions about burger nutrition. The three least healthy burgers are the Five Guys cheeseburger, the jalapeño and cheeseburger from Whataburger, and the classic smash from Smash Burger, respectively.A study conducted by PlushCare says some fast-food restaurants are worse than others. Five Guys not only made the unhealthiest burger list, but its fries also made the list. The Five Guys cheeseburger scored 50 points on the unhealthiness score, and the fries scored 28. Five Guys had 73% more saturated fat than any other fast-food cheeseburger on the list. The jalapeño and cheeseburger from Whataburger scored 42 points on the unhealthiness scale and had 20 mg of sodium. The Classic Smash from Smash Burger scored 42 points with 18 mg of sodium.PlushCare says it came up with these numbers by analyzing each menu item's calories, sugar, saturated fat, and sodium content based on the Department of Health's nutrient profiling method. "Ultimately, healthy eating comes down to taking control of what you eat," the online healthcare platform reports. "That might mean avoiding fast food altogether, but it can be as simple as making an informed decision about which fast-food chains to visit and which of their products to choose."Surprisingly, Burger King and McDonald's are tied for second-lowest unhealthiness scores at just 18 points. Their cheeseburgers contain less than a quarter of the saturated fat found in a Five Guys burger and less than half that of a Wendy's offering.
